What happened
Celestica Inc. (NYSE: CLS) raised its 2026 revenue outlook to $21.0 billion while cutting free-cash-flow guidance to $460 million.
The direct answer is that demand improved faster than cash conversion. Management said targeted working-capital investment for 2027 reduced the cash outlook, even as Q3 revenue grew 83% to $5.83 billion.

Why it matters
The old outlook implied a 2.93% free-cash-flow margin. That was $600 million divided by $20.5 billion. The new outlook implies 2.19%, using $460 million divided by $21.0 billion.
That is a 0.74 percentage-point decline despite the higher revenue base. Celestica Inc. (NYSE: CLS) is spending cash on components and other working capital before expected 2027 demand. The strategy can support growth, but it increases execution and inventory risk.
Q3 demand was strong. Revenue exceeded the top of guidance by about 5.0%, adjusted earnings per share reached $3.30, and adjusted operating margin rose to 8.5%. Communications and Cloud Solutions revenue grew 102%, helped by hardware-platform growth.
Management also projected $40 billion of 2027 revenue and a 9.0% adjusted operating margin. That outlook assumes roughly 90% revenue growth and requires $1.5 billion to $2.0 billion of capital spending. The company completed a $3.45 billion equity offering during Q3.
The strongest counterargument is that lower free cash flow may be temporary and deliberate. If working capital converts into shipments, the investment can fund a larger business. The risk is that demand, component needs, or customer timing changes before that cash returns.

What's next
The next tests are fourth-quarter working capital, inventory, free cash flow, customer concentration, adjusted margin, and the first firm 2027 orders. Investors should also watch the diluted share count after the equity offering.
Free cash flow and adjusted operating margin are non-GAAP measures. The 2027 figures are management outlooks, not contracted outcomes, and the margin calculation does not identify when working-capital cash will reverse.
