Abbott’s on Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes for Seventh Consecutive Year

Abbott's on Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes for Seventh Consecutive YearAbbott has announced they have been included on not only the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI) but also the North American index for seven consecutive years.

The DJSI is a market benchmark for the performance of companies in industry sectors which are responsible for economic, environmental and social performance.

For Abbott, this means they have received recognition from the market index as having leadership in multiple categories.  Abbott also received a 100 percent score in some categories such as environmental management and climate strategy  Environmental management and climate strategies are areas that Abbott focuses on according to the company.

Additional areas which Abbott ranked are in crisis management, stakeholder engagement, standards for suppliers, corporate governance, and occupational health and safety according to a company statement.

Abbott is quick to point out that they are one of two companies with headquarters in the United States to be listed on both the North America and World Indexes.  Abbott carries an overall score of 85 which is the highest score the company has managed to acquire.  The common average of all companies are 53 percent.
