What happened
The board of Enel Chile S.A. (NYSE: ENIC) agreed on Oct. 28 to pay an interim dividend of $58.43 million for fiscal 2026.
That works out to USD 0.000844773794581 per share across 69,166,557,219 shares. The dividend form rounds it to $0.00084. The amount is 15% of net income as of Sept. 30, 2026, and will be charged to 2026 net income.
The company will pay on Jan. 22, 2027, in Chilean pesos. It will use the official dollar exchange rate published in the Official Gazette on Jan. 15, 2027. The form lists Jan. 16, 2027 as the closing date for shareholders with rights to the payment.
The board also let management offer shareholders a choice. They can put the dividend under a temporary single tax that replaces final taxes. It is known as IUSIF and set by Law No. 21,850. The option depends on meeting the law's requirements and instructions from Chile's Internal Revenue Service.
Chief Executive Officer Gianluca Palumbo reported the decision to Chile's Financial Market Commission as a material fact. Shareholders who have given authorization will be paid by bank deposit. Others can collect a bank voucher starting on the payment date.

Why it matters
OptimistFi has argued that Enel Chile works if its Chilean electric-service assets turn essential demand into cash, and 2024 margin compression normalizes instead of proving a structural loss of returns. A board-approved cash payout supports the first half of that view.
It does not settle the second half. A payout set at 15% of net income says nothing on its own about whether 2024 margin compression has normalized.
Shareholders also face open items. The peso amount depends on the January exchange rate. The company says it will announce in a timely manner the tax credit the dividend could carry.

What's next
Enel Chile says details on the IUSIF option, including a form, instructions and deadlines, will go on its website starting Monday, Nov. 30, 2026.
The next test is the Jan. 22, 2027 payment. A payout on schedule at the rate fixed by the Jan. 15 publication would confirm the cash return. The margin question stays open until Enel Chile reports further results.
