Why it matters

OptimistFi's case is that Avidia Bancorp can work if its larger equity base turns into profitable relationship lending, not just balance-sheet growth. This quarter gave that case some support. Total net revenue rose to $31.2 million from $29.9 million, and net interest income increased to $25.5 million. Net income rose by $1.43 million quarter over quarter. The bank said net interest margin increased 22 basis points to 3.86%, or 3.75% excluding the $692 thousand loan prepayment penalty.

That penalty helped the margin, so the better result was not all from core spread income. Total stockholders' equity ended at $366.6 million, or 13.2% of assets, after $23.8 million of repurchases. The allowance for credit losses fell to $23.2 million from $23.9 million, while nonaccrual loans rose to $17.8 million from $16.9 million. Income tax expense also increased $660 thousand to $3.0 million, which reduced the gain at the bottom line.

What's next

The next dated item is the dividend record date of November 17, 2026, with payment on or about November 30, 2026. If the payout is paid as announced and future quarters keep producing earnings without a loan prepayment penalty, that would support the case for shareholder returns from recurring profit. If earnings slip back while equity keeps falling, the capital-return story would look weaker.
