CES Opens in Las Vegas on Tuesday

The Consumer Electronics Show will open on Tuesday January 6 and included a myriad of products to look at with big tech firms showcasing their latest electronic devices.

Tech companies will again be using the CES to unveil what they feel are must have gadgets with the odds stacked against them.

The largest trade show in the world, the CES, is not known to be on that make hits out of products.

While the show is a leading indicator for trends and last year attracted more than 160,000 people, many of the products that are introduced during the event take many years to eventually make it to consumers’ living rooms and many times, they never make it there.

The last year the CES had a true sensation that was a standalone product was in 2001 when Microsoft unveiled the game console Xbox.

This year, the event will be loaded with lots of gadgets. One gadget that will be highly featured will be drones. Another that will get much attention will be connected cars and a complete range of smarthome technology that is designed to make everyday life somewhat more convenient.

Quantum dot televisions that promise lower electricity and better color use huge screens and will also be on display.

Attendance at last year’s event topped 160,000, which was 15% above the 140,000 that came in 2011.

Last year there were more than 52,325 exhibitors. The company, which is in charge of running the event, has not released the number of exhibitors for this year’s show.

One analyst said that the event is so big that people wonder why companies do not attend making some be there even when they would prefer not to be.

While the high-definition television debuted in 1998 at the CES, it took another seven years prior to 10% of the market using it.

Over five years after the 3-D HD TVs arrived at the CES, few watched them.

Last year, one memorable moment did not involve a product, but was when Michael Bay, cut a presentation short about Samsung televisions after the failure of a teleprompter.
